Tumour necrosis factor superfamily cytokines and the pathogenesis of inflammatory osteolysis.

چکیده
Periarticular osteolysis is a debilitating complication of inflammatory arthritis. While controversy exists as to whether pannus, itself, is capable of degrading bone, the osteoclast is clearly the principal, if not exclusive, bone resorptive cell in rheumatoid disease and other osteopenic disorders. Thus, the treatment of inflammatory osteolysis depends upon understanding the means by which the osteoclast resorbs bone, and the mechanisms that govern its differentiation from precursor cells.

P189: The Role of Periodontitis in Alzheimer Pathogenesis
Alzheimer disease (AD), the most common cause of dementia, is an irreversible progressive neurodegenerative condition. It is characterized by the salient inflammatory features, microglial activation and increased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines which contribute to the inflammatory states of the CNS. Accumulating data suggest the key role of inflammation in AD pathogenesis. In a prospective...
متن کاملTumour Necrosis Factor Superfamily Members in the Pathogenesis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a group of inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract of unclear aetiology of which two major forms are Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). CD and UC are immunologically distinct, although they both result from hyperactivation of proinflammatory pathways in intestines and disruption of intestinal epithelial barrier. Members of the tum...

Background and Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of mulberry supplementation on two pro-inflammatory markers response, Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) and performance after a session of strenuous exercise. Black Mulberry is a fruit rich in flavonoids and anthocyanins which have been proved to act as antioxidants in body. Materials and Methods: Fifteen female basketball playe...
متن کاملA Prospective Study of Altered Inflammatory Response and Its Clinical Outcome Following Laparoscopic and Open Cholecystectomy
Background: Inflammatory response following surgical trauma has long been a matter of study. Results, however, have been varied. We sought to assess changes in the levels of proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in patients undergoing laparoscopic and open cholecystectomy and their impact on the clinical outcome of patients concerning the postoperative pain score. Methods: The study in...
متن کاملInhibitory effects of bisbenzylisoquinolines on synthesis of the inflammatory cytokines interleukin-1 and tumour necrosis factor-alpha
Synthesis of IL-1beta and TNFalpha by human monocytesmacrophages was significantly inhibited by eleven bisbenzylisoquinolines and one half-molecule (benzylisoquinoline), with IC(50) values in the muM range. The results indicate that these compounds may have value in the therapy of human diseases where these inflammatory cytokines have a central role in pathogenesis.
